Vent: My whole plan to find a new coffee shop by just walking around totally backfired

I was in this part of town I don't know well last Tuesday, and I decided to just wander for 20 minutes to find a spot instead of looking at a map. I passed three places that were closed for the day, and the fourth one had a line out the door. I ended up at a gas station for a terrible cup because I was already late. It felt so dumb after spending all that time trying to avoid my phone. Has anyone else had a 'discovery' day that just completely flopped?

My last walk for a bakery led me to three closed storefronts. I started checking Google Maps for "open now" before I leave the house. It saves the frustration of a failed trip.

Oh man, I totally get the frustration, but I still love the adventure of it! @ivangrant, I hear you on checking first, but finding a hidden spot by accident feels way better than a sure thing to me. My worst flop was walking 30 minutes in the rain only to find the place was now a pet groomer, but I'd still try it again!
