Hot take: I was wrong about letting molds cool in the open air for every job.

A cracked 40-pound aluminum gear blank last month showed me the thermal shock from our 68-degree shop floor was the culprit, not the alloy mix, so when do you guys start using controlled cooling boxes?

Tell me about it, we lost a whole batch of bronze bushings the same way. Started using a basic insulated box for anything over ten pounds now. The temperature drop just happens way too fast out in the open.

Insulated box is smart, but what about the humidity inside it?
