We used to put a dollar on how long each pour would take. It was just for fun during long shifts. Then the plant manager saw us handing over cash. His face was funny, but it ended our tradition. Now everything is too clean and quiet.
Trying to make decorative knobs from scrap aluminum. Every piece comes out with tiny holes... it's making the surface look terrible and I can't figure out why.
Back then, we'd inspect every pour for cold shuts before moving on. Now with automated lines, it's easy to assume the machine caught it all. I mean, last week a whole batch got scrapped because of this. Maybe it's just me, but don't trust the tech over your own eyes.
