I just hit 500 pours on the new greensand line without a single cold shut.
I was sure the new binder mix was too aggressive, but hitting that number with zero defects has me rethinking my whole stance on modern additives.

Hitting 500 pours is a great run, but a single batch doesn't prove the mix is stable. We had a similar streak with a new additive last year, and it fell apart completely by pour 800. The early success just masked how it degraded the sand over time. Modern binders can be tricky like that. I'd need to see it hold up through a full reclaim cycle before changing my mind.

Ugh, you're totally right. It's like that shiny new binder we tested that made the sand feel perfect for months, then boom, total breakdown after the seventh reclaim. The early numbers lie because you're not seeing the slow build-up of acid or the binder ash clogging everything. A full cycle shows you the real cost, not just the first batch feel-good.
