Pro tip: check your flask for stray parts before you pour

Last week at the shop in Toledo, I was ramming up a small job and couldn't find my favorite trowel, so I grabbed a spare from the bottom of my toolbox. I finished the pour, knocked out the casting this morning, and found the missing trowel perfectly embedded in the aluminum, handle and all. What's the weirdest thing you've ever found sealed inside a casting?

Found a full pack of cigarettes once, cellophane and all, in a big iron gearbox casting. Guy on the shakeout line almost had a heart attack. Makes you wonder what else gets through when nobody's looking. My old foreman used to say the foundry eats tools and spits out history.

That foreman's line is great, but @karen_sanchez10, the foundry spits out mystery more than history, doesn't it?
