That 'secret' taco truck everyone raves about? I finally went and it was mid
This guy at my gym, Marcus, swore up and down that La Casita on 5th Street had the best al pastor in the city. Said he'd been going for 12 years and it beat every sit-down spot in Austin. So I dragged my wife there last Friday, waited 35 minutes in line, and paid $14 for three tacos that were honestly dry and the pineapple was just a garnish. I thought maybe I got them on an off night, so I went back this Tuesday, same thing. Meanwhile, this little place called El Chido that nobody talks about, two blocks away, has been serving me $2.50 tacos with actual crispy edges and homemade salsa verde for months. So is Marcus just wrong, or did La Casita get bought out and he's stuck on old glory? Has anyone else dealt with a hyped spot that never lives up, or am I crazy for trusting the loudest guy in the locker room?
